Development of a Dot-Sight with Wedge-shaped Lenses
Lee Dong-Hee

Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a dot-sight with a doublet reflector in which the two bonded lenses are wedge-shaped types.

Methods: Two curvature radii of the 1st and 2nd surfaces of the doublet reflector and two angles produced by the optical axes of the 1st and 2nd planes of the doublet reflector and the optical axis of the light incident from the dot reticle were used as the parallax optimization parameters of the doublet reflector design.

Results: The characteristics of the doublet reflector with minimized parallax are that the 1st and 2nd lenses constituting the doublet reflector are wedgeshaped types and constitute the reflecting mirror for the dot-sight by balsm-bonding that the lens bases are opposite to each other. It is confirmed that a doublet reflector with wedge-shaped lenses is 10 times more effective in the shooting accuracy than a conventional doublet reflector, when optimized with two identical constraints: FFL of 47.5 ¡¾ 0.2 mm and effective diameter of 18.0 mm.

Conclusions: By changing the 1st and 2nd lenses of a conventional doublet reflector for dot-sight into wedge-shaped lenses and developing a dot-sight reflector in which the base directions of the 1st and 2nd lenses are oppositely bonded to each other, a new dot-sight with a shooting accuracy of 10 times or more than that of a conventional dot-sight can be developed.
